HOW SUSTAINABLE ARE YOUR CUPS?
EVERY YEAR 20 MILLION TREES ARE CUT DOWN TO MAKE TRADITIONAL PAPER COFFEE CUPS
WE'VE GOT THE ANSWER!
A CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM WITH CUPS MADE FROM SUGARCANE RESIDUALS.
An estimated 20 million trees are cut down every year to produce disposable paper coffee cups.
The habitat loss from one 16 ounce paper coffee cup with a sleeve is estimated to be 0.09 square meters .
About 1 million traditional paper coffee cups per minute go to landfill. In Ireland alone, it is estimated that 2 million single use cups make their way to landfill every day. There must be a better way and we think we've found it.
Amazingly, if your business were to save 100 paper cups a day for a year you would save 60 trees.
THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY!
A truly sustainable solution.
These cups are made from sugar cane fibre. When sugar is extracted from sugar cane, a large quantity of residual fibre is a natural waste product of the process.
Residual waste is normally discarded.
It was largely the case until now that this biomass was simply burned but now we’re using it to make disposable coffee cups more sustainable.
A closed loop system ensures sustainability.
We will provide a special cup collection bin ensuring correct collection of these cups in our Biobag compostable refuse sacks, this is indeed a complete solution.
Our new cups are an organic circular lifecycle concept for your business where we supply cups and accessories and then retrieve them again to ensure that they are properly composted, thus making them a truly sustainable alternative to traditional PE lined paper cups.
You receive our cups, lids, stirrers, biobag compostable refuse sacks, and collection systems free of charge for a certain period.
We will brand these cups for you, free of charge so that you can fully promote your own brand and your commitment to the environment. We provide a simple implementation plan and instructions to get you up and running.
You promote our cups as your preferred solution to get ahead of the game when it comes to responsibility.
Every regular period we’ll collect the used cups from your premises for ensured proper composting.
SO WHERE DO THE CUPS GO?
We will provide a special cup collection bin for the duration, ensuring correct collection of these cups. When coupled with our Biobag compostable refuse sacks, this is indeed a complete solution.
We’re also conscious of the impact transportation has on our sustainable cup concept so we’ve invested in new 100% electric Nissan e-NV200 vans.
We want to drive our business in a more sustainable direction; literally and these vans only represent the beginning of that process.
We want to glide around town quietly delivering and picking up with the minimum of inconvenience.
Electric vehicles have no tailpipe emissions whilst driving, making them a more environmentally-friendly option, especially in the city.
In recent years there has been an increase in the use of compostable paper cups which are a great alternative to traditional cups, however, most of these compostable cups arrive at landfill where composting doesn't occur.
Very few cafes or premises have suitable compost bins or the means to collect used cups exclusively and therein lies the problem. Its estimated that less than 1% of these compostable cups are actually being composted properly.
Our solution is to close the loop whilst also providing a product manufactured from a sustainable resource, namely, residual waste from the harvesting of sugarcane.
Closing the loop means taking responsibility for what happens (to as many cups as we can) after their use to ensure they are composted properly and don’t make their way to landfill or into the normal recycling stream where they are indistinguishable from non-recyclable traditional cups.
